Real algebraic geometry is an area of mathematics that lies at the crossroads of algebra, combinatorics, logic and topology, and studies the solutions of systems of polynomial equations and inequalities over the real numbers. Since such systems are ubiquitous in the sciences, real algebraic geometry also provides an important bridge between algebra and applications.
This four-day summer school will provide an invitation to the field in the form of two minicourses, as well as several small talks by participants on related research topics. The school will highlight theoretical, computational and applied aspects of real algebraic geometry. The main target audience is graduate students, postdocs and other early-career researchers, but everyone who is interested is welcome to participate.
Minicourses
The minicourses have the following tentative titles:
- Classical real algebraic geometry by Mario Kummer (TU Dresden)
- Tropical real algebraic geometry and its applications by Máté Telek (BME, Budapest).
In addition, there will be two guest lectures by Silviana Amethyst (MPI-CBG Dresden) and Bernd Sturmfels (MPI MiS Leipzig).
Registration
Registration will open shortly.
Organizers
- Rizeng Chen (MPI MiS Leipzig)
