Bias and AI: A Practical Workshop on Visual AI Generation in Science Communication
This hands-on workshop explores the possibilities and limitations of AI image generation, using examples drawn directly from science communication. How can we work creatively with AI tools to visualize abstract scientific concepts — and what problems emerge when we try to represent women in science? Through practical exercises, participants will engage with these questions firsthand: designing prompts, analyzing outputs critically, and developing strategies for conscious, responsible use of AI-generated imagery. The workshop combines creative experimentation with critical reflection, encouraging participants to see AI bias not only as a problem to be avoided, but as a compass pointing toward underrepresented perspectives.
