Description

The concept of the career center is based on the MPG Postdoc Leitlinien (https://www.mpg.de/leitlinien-postdocs)
and on the HGF postdoc guidelines (https://www.helmholtz.de/fileadmin/user_upload/Helmholtz_Postdoc_Guidelines.pdf).

In both guidelines an annual career development conversation between you and your supervisor is a central element, this is why we have developed special guidelines for the career conversation (https://www.ipp.mpg.de/4737339/conversation).

Twice a year, we offer mini-workshops 'Career conversations', so that you can go into your career conversation being optimally prepared.

Career conversations are important because:

  1. Self-Reflection and Clarity: They provide an opportunity to evaluate your long-term career goals, helping you reflect on your strengths, weaknesses, and interests, and thereby clarify the direction you want to take.
  2. Professional Development: Regular discussions can help identify skills that need further development, allowing you to plan targeted training or learning opportunities.
  3. Feedback and Guidance: Career conversations offer personalized feedback from mentors or peers, which can guide you in navigating academic or industry challenges effectively.
  4. Proactive Career Planning: By discussing your career path actively, you can decide which steps you want to take during your postdoc-time at IPP.

The mini-workshops will be held by Matthias Knott, our head of HR.
The expected duration of the mini-workshop is one hour, but we will take more time in case you have a lot of questions.
