Description

The mushroom foraging is an activity organised by the Institute's health & sustainability teams.

The day kicks off with a guided hike through the beautiful Heide, led by an expert who will point out various mushrooms and their ecological importance. Together we get a little exercise, appreciate the natural bounty of the season, and most importantly learn to identify which kinds are edible vs. dangerous.

After the hike, we'll return to the MPI to cook with freshly foraged ingredients, turning them into delicious dishes. For those who don't like mushrooms, test your baking abilities with a seasonal pumpkin pie. (Check out the folder "Recipes" for ideas to get your mouth watering!)

Children can meanwhile unleash their creativity by crafting lanterns from recycled materials.

With the cooking and crafting done, we will share a meal.

We’ll conclude with a festive lantern parade, sharing the history and significance of this charming German tradition. Enjoy a day of flavors, sustainability, and local traditions.
