This online workshop introduces beginners to Python programming with a unique twist: leveraging AI tools to accelerate learning. Through a combination of prerecorded video content and live online sessions, participants will gain hands-on experience with Python while learning to use AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, and Anaconda Assistant to enhance their coding skills and problem-solving abilities.
The workshop is ideal for beginners with no prior programming experience, students and researchers looking to incorporate Python and AI tools into their work, researchers looking to transition into data-centric roles, and anyone interested in leveraging AI to enhance their programming skills.
No prior programming experience required. A computer with an internet connection is necessary. Setup instructions: Python installation, required libraries, development environment, access to AI tools.
Workshop Structure
Tutorial 1: Getting started with Python
- Pre-workshop video lecture
- Python beginner course using AI: This comprehensive video covers the fundamental concepts we´ll be building upon throughout the workshop.
- Live online session: Introduction to development environments (Jupyter Lab, Anaconda Cloud), installing virtual environments; setting up your Python environment; getting started with AI coding assistants; Q&A session covering Python basics from the video lecture; introduction to the practical exercises and project selection
- Independent Project Work Period: During the time between Tutorial 1 and Tutorial 2 participants will work independently on their choosen projects wirh AI assistence.
Tutorial 2: Project presentations and advanced discussion
