How to reach the Venue?
By Plane:
The closest major international airport is Frankfurt Airport (FRA), one of Europe’s largest and busiest airports, with direct connections to destinations worldwide. Alternatively, participants may fly into Stuttgart Airport (STR), which also offers good international connections; from Stuttgart, Heidelberg can be reached by train in approximately 90 minutes.
To receive the correct time table for trains from FRA, you have to enter Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf. on the website of the Deutsche Bahn. Tickets can be purchased on the website or in their app. There are also ticket machines close to/above the platform.
Getting from Frankfurt to Heidelberg:
From Frankfurt Airport, Heidelberg can be reached easily by train in about 60–90 minutes. Direct ICE and IC trains run from the airport’s long-distance train station (Platform Fern 5) to Mannheim, where frequent local trains (S-Bahn or regional services) connect to Heidelberg in around 15 minutes.
It is also possible to arrive in Heidelberg via the Lufthansa Bus. The Bus departs from the “Meeting Point” in terminal 1, (Hall B=inside, next to the ACS canteen, exit No. 3) seven times a day. The price for a fare is 35 € and the journey takes around 1-1,5 hr depending on traffic. For roundtrips and participants arriving via a Lufthansa flight, children or students the Bus offers small discounts. The Bus stops on demand 1-3 times in Heidelberg, in the Alte Eppelheimer Str. at the back of the NH Collection Hotel, closest to the central bus hub (Bismarckplatz) is the stop at the Kurfürsten Anlage in front of the Hilton Hotel , furthest away in the Vangerowstr. 16 at the Marriott Hotel.
Alternatively an airport shuttle from Frankfurt to Heidelberg can be booked here. The shuttle departs every 1.5 hours from Frankfurt Airport and costs 95 Euros per person. There is group discounts and a group of 4 people only pays 150 Euro. Individual transfer can also be arranged with them, at a price of 165 Euro for 1-8 persons between 6am to 8pm and 190 Euro at other times. By Train:
Heidelberg is well connected to the German and European rail network. Long-distance (ICE/IC/EC) trains typically stop at Mannheim Hauptbahnhof, one of Germany’s major railway hubs. From Mannheim, frequent regional trains and S-Bahn services reach Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof in approximately 15 minutes. Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof is the main arrival point for travelers and provides easy access to most Hotels and also to Bike rentals or Bus services.

By Car:
If you plan to arrive by car you can use the Underground Parking at the University Library. Exit is towards the Universitätsplatz.

Getting around in Heidelberg
There is a long pedestrian zone starting at the main bus hub, "Bismarckplatz" , and it passes by the "Universitätsplatz", which is a 15-minute walk away.
Public transport:
The main provider for public transport in Heidelberg and the surrounding areas is the RNV. You can mostly pay for your tickets by card in the bus, but for better prices it is recommended to download the myVRN-app or purchase a 5-day ticket, which includes all travel for the 5 days of the conference. More details about how to reach the venue from your accomodation and how to purchase the tickets can be found on the RNV website.
You can reach the Meeting Location via RNV 29, RNV 30 or RNV 33.
From the main train station ('Hauptbahnhof') the Venue can be reached directly by using the RNV33 Line and getting off at the stop 'Universitätsplatz'. The travel time is 14 minutes.
Alternatively the Line RNV20 can be used to travel from the main train station to 'Peterskirche' which is a short 3 minute walk. The total travel time is estimated to around 12 minutes.
From the old town and most Hotels a convenient route is to take the Line RNV29, which starts from Bismarkplatz, located very centrally in the old city in Heidelberg, and goes directly to 'Universitätsplatz'. The travel time for this line is 6 minutes.
By Bike:
It is also possible to reach the venue by bike. Heidelberg is a very bike-friendly city with many bike lanes and a dedicated bike-rental service, VRNnextbike. They have stations all over Heidelberg and more information about the service can be found on their website.
