Planning to Retire in Germany?

The International Office is hosting an online question and answer session about pensions in Germany.

The target audience is international researchers who plan to live in Germany for the long-term.

In the online session, Ms Ratzel from VBL will discuss practical questions about pensions for international researchers.

Example topics:

  1. Assuming that I stay in Germany, what will my pension be? How can I know? How is it calculated? How can I get an actual estimation?

  2. How much am I actually setting aside for my pension each month? Is this fixed ?

  3. Until what age should I work? Can this still change?

  4. How are years working abroad counted? Under what conditions?

  5. How much do I lose if I retire earlier?

  6. Can I save more each month? i.e. could I agree to get more taken from my monthly salary? Or is this something I should do through a private pension scheme only?

When: Friday 21 June at 14:00, online

Spaces are limited to ensure all participants can join actively.

Note: If you arrived in Germany in the last 1-2 years, this event is probably not yet relevant for you.

Please only register if you plan to attend.

(By the way: later in the year we will have a more general session on pensions for everyone.)
